I’m Worried! What should I do?

  • If you live near a fly ash dump and are concerned that your well or spring water is contaminated, have your water tested!

  • Contact your representatives in Congress. Tell them the EPA should immediately begin to regulate fly ash/coal combustion waste (CCW) from coal plants as hazardous waste in order to protect our communities and the environment.

  • Contact your state senators and representatives. Ask them to immediately require more effective monitoring around existing fills. Also, if you live in Oklahoma, join us in asking that the state institute a provision allowing a citizen or municipality to request a split sample of fly ash, and at the company's expense, have that sample analyzed by the lab of the citizen's choice, as currently industry self-regulates.

  • Advocate for cleaner energy sources, and turn out the lights! As long as our nation burns coal to produce electricity, we'll have fly ash to dispose. The single best and most realistic way to reduce the harmful effects of the coal cycle RIGHT NOW is to use less electricity!

Radiation levels rising.

Slow death is in the air.

Every thing’s mutating but nobody seems to care.

Now our children have to live with the changes that we make.

The whole earth has suffered from the chances that we take.

We say that’s the price of progress and we have no other choice.

Can we make an honest effort? Can see beyond our greed?
