What does Fly Ash contain?

All fly ash includes substantial amounts of silicon dioxide (SiO2) (both amorphous and crystalline) and calcium oxide (CaO). Carcinogenic, mutagenic, and toxicants constituents include arsenic, beryllium, boron, cadmium, chromium, chromium VI (hexavalent chromium), cobalt, lead, manganese, mercury, molybdenum, selenium, strontium, thallium, and vanadium, along with dioxins and PAH compounds. EPA reports that in 2007, AES Shady Point’s toxic release total was 267,700 lbs. in the air and over 644,007 lbs. to an ash dump site in Bokoshe. Contained within the total sent to the dump site was 56,052 lbs. of arsenic compounds, 1137 lbs. mercury, and 1001 lbs. lead.

Radiation levels rising.

Slow death is in the air.

Every thing’s mutating but nobody seems to care.

Now our children have to live with the changes that we make.

The whole earth has suffered from the chances that we take.

We say that’s the price of progress and we have no other choice.

Can we make an honest effort? Can see beyond our greed?
